Ankle Pain evaluation and treatment

Minimally Invasive Foot & Ankle Surgery

At About Feet Podiatry Center, we specialize in advanced foot and ankle care. Among our surgical offerings, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) plays a major role — letting us correct problems with smaller incisions, less soft tissue disruption, and faster recovery.

That said, we’re not limited to MIS. When warranted, we also perform traditional foot and ankle surgeries (e.g., tendon repair, fracture fixation, ligament reconstruction) to give you the best possible outcome.

What Does “Minimally Invasive” Mean in Foot & Ankle Care?

“Minimally invasive” refers to surgical techniques that:

  • Use smaller incisions (often millimeters instead of centimeters)
  • Reduce trauma to surrounding tissue, muscles, and skin
  • Minimize pain, swelling, and scarring
  • Enable faster healing and earlier return to activity

For certain conditions, MIS offers surgical precision with a gentler recovery timeline — but only where appropriate.

Conditions We Often Treat Using MIS

While not every issue is a candidate, here are some foot and ankle conditions we commonly address with minimally invasive methods:

  • Bunions & Taylor’s bunionette deformities
  • Hammertoes & toe deformities
  • Mild to moderate arthritis of the toes and foot

If MIS is not ideal for your case, we’ll recommend the safest, most effective route — whether a hybrid approach, a more traditional surgery, or a conservative path.

Traditional (Open / Reconstructive) Surgery — When It’s Needed

There are times when more extensive correction is necessary. In those cases, our fellowship-trained podiatric surgeons are ready for:

  • Tendon repair / tendon transfers
  • Fracture fixation & bone reconstruction
  • Ligament reconstruction or stabilization
  • Joint realignment or fusion
  • Cartilage and joint surface restoration

We never force MIS if it’s not appropriate. Our goal is the most effective surgery for your anatomical needs — whether less invasive or more traditional.
