Fracture Care: Foot & Ankle
When you think you may have broken a bone in your foot or ankle, your first thought might be urgent care, the ER, or a large orthopedic office. But here’s the problem:
- Urgent care and ERs can stabilize, but they almost always refer you out — adding delays, duplicate visits, and extra bills.
- Orthopedic groups see everything from shoulders to hips. You’ll wait weeks to be squeezed in..
At About Feet Podiatry Center, you skip the middleman. We are foot and ankle specialists — it’s all we do, and unlike big systems, we can fit you in the same day for fractures and stress fractures.

Fractures can range from hairline cracks to displaced breaks. They often result from:
- Falls, twists, or direct trauma
- Sports injuries and overuse
- High-energy accidents
- Underlying bone weakness (osteoporosis, illness)
- Repetitive stress (runners, dancers, etc.)
Typical Symptoms Include
- Pain and swelling
- Bruising or tenderness
- Trouble bearing weight
- Visible deformity or misalignment
- Limited ankle or foot motion
If you suspect a fracture, don’t wait — getting the right treatment early prevents long-term problems.
Our Fracture Care Approach
-
Precise Diagnosis
- Detailed exam and history
- Imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI when needed)
- Evaluation of alignment, joint involvement, and soft tissue
-
Conservative vs Surgical Treatment
- Conservative care: casting, bracing, immobilization, restricted weight bearing
- Surgical care: recommended for displaced or unstable fractures, or those involving joint surfaces
-
Surgical Options (When Needed)
- Open reduction & internal fixation (ORIF) with screws, plates, or hardware
- Minimally invasive fixation where possible
- Bone grafting / reconstruction for complex fractures
- Joint fusion or realignment if damage is severe
- Ankle arthroscopy (ankle scope) in select cases for cartilage or joint inspection
-
Rehabilitation & Monitoring
- Stepwise recovery plan
- Gradual return to motion and strength
- Imaging follow-up to ensure proper healing

You should contact us right away if:
